The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot

Chapter 280: Wanting a Child

Chapter 280: Wanting a Child

March passed steadily, and April arrived in the blink of an eye. Holly and Leo’s wedding was drawing near.

The long-prepared wedding was approaching its end.

Holly sat on a bench in the villa garden, watching the sunlight gradually set, and suddenly felt a wave of emotion: The sunlight outside passes in a flash, while the shadow of flowers move before the seats.

Time truly flies.

"Tired?"

Leo circled around behind Holly, massaging her shoulders softly as he spoke.

Today they had been busy at the villa all day, and everything inside was already set up, just waiting for the wedding to arrive.

"A bit."

Holly yawned, feeling not only a bit tired but also a bit sleepy.

"How about we go for steak tonight?"

Leo continued to massage Holly’s shoulders while seeking her opinion.

Western food certainly carries a romantic sentiment.

The atmosphere is great.

"Sure."

Holly smiled warmly, her eyes filled with cheer.

It had been quite a while since she last had Western cuisine.

The wedding date was set for April 15th, an excellent day for a wedding, and the weather was likely to be great as well.

The restaurant played light music, and the lighting was particularly clever, creating a wonderfully romantic atmosphere perfect for a date.

"I realize how well a Western restaurant suits a date."

Holly propped her chin as she gazed out the window, speaking softly.

They had already ordered food, but it hadn’t arrived yet.

Leo agreed: "Yes, it really does."

In a corner of the restaurant, there was a piano. Holly’s eyes lit up when she saw it.

"Brother, shall I play a piece for you on the piano?"

Holly blinked gently as she spoke with a smile.

Not waiting for Leo’s reaction, Holly stood up and approached a waiter to inquire if the piano could be used. With the waiter’s permission, she headed towards the piano.

"It’s been so long since I last played; I’ve gotten rusty."

Holly casually hit a key and muttered.

She dabbles in everything, familiar with a bit of this and that, but she’s not very proficient in any.

Holly gently closed her eyes, and soon her hands were flowing with the tune "Mariage d’amour".

Upon hearing the piano, everyone in the restaurant turned to see a lovely young girl playing "Mariage d’amour".

Leo’s lips curved into a joyful smile.

As the piece ended, applause erupted throughout the restaurant.

"The young girl really played it well."

"It’s quite lovely."

"Very nice."

"..."

The restaurant patrons commented sparsely.

"How was it?"

Holly walked leisurely towards Leo, a sweet smile on her lips.

Leo: "Beautiful."

"I played it especially for you, thinking about marrying you fills me with happiness."

Holly tilted her head as she looked at Leo, amusement dancing in her eyes.

In front of Leo, she’s always sweetly innocent, just like when they first met.

"You’re already mine."

Leo emphasized that Holly was already on his household registration, already his wife.

Holly beamed sweetly.

The two steaks soon arrived, and Leo cut Holly’s steak, placing it before her.

"Brother, let’s have a child."

While eating, Holly suddenly raised her eyes, seriously looking at Leo and spoke slowly.

She wanted a token of their love.

"Haven’t we always been able to take precautions?"

Holly’s words caught Leo off guard, causing him to glance up at her.

From the start, they hadn’t taken precautions, hoping to go with the flow.

"I mean I want to adjust my body."

Holly paused for a moment before speaking slowly.

Her periods were always irregular, making pregnancy indeed a bit difficult. She couldn’t guarantee, couldn’t be sure she could...

Holly might be a little conflicted inside.

"Okay."

"But, just so you know, whatever the outcome, you’re not allowed to leave me."

"If you’re mine, you’re mine—you can’t use that as an excuse to leave me."

Leo held Holly’s hand, his expression exceptionally serious.

She had told him about Cecilia Bennett’s situation.

Although Holly and Cecilia seemed like different types of people, in certain aspects, they were surprisingly similar.

Whether Holly could conceive or not didn’t matter much to him; what mattered was her staying by his side.

Having Holly was enough.

"Okay, as you say."

Holly nodded, her eyes curving with a smile.

They had their marriage certificate; where else could she run?

Besides, even if she wanted to leave, Leo wouldn’t let her go.

——

The next day.

Leo accompanied Holly to the hospital for a check-up, also casually checking himself. The results were normal, with no issues.

"Phew, thank goodness."

Holding the report, Holly exhaled deeply.

She wasn’t infertile or difficult to conceive; she was perfectly fine.

She could have a lovely child with Leo.

As she walked out of the hospital, Holly was stopped by a man in front of her, looking worn and tired. She frowned slightly.

"Chloe, you can’t be so cruel."

Miles Miller blocked Holly’s path. Gazing at her, his eyes filled with expectation, he pleaded softly.

Now the Miller Group had changed its name back to the Sawyer Group, and he’d been ousted.

The son he’d claimed wasn’t even his; the woman had just seen him as a sugar daddy.

Now he’s fallen, who would care about him?

Overnight, he’d lost everything, truly down and out.

"Sorry, you’ve mistaken me for someone else. Please move aside."

Holly’s gaze was exceedingly cold as she glanced at Miles Miller.

Never having experienced fatherly love, she always considered her father to be dead.

"Chloe, I’m your father."

"If you don’t believe me, we can take a paternity test."

"This just so happens to be a hospital, let’s do it now."

Miles Miller shouted, visibly agitated.

Passersby turned to stare, curious; some stopped to watch the spectacle.

"My wife said she doesn’t know you."

Leo protected Holly in his arms, casting a cold gaze at Miles Miller.

"She’s my daughter."

Miles Miller shouted.

"Then tell me how old your daughter is this year? What’s her name?"

"What year was she born? What’s her birthday?"

"What’s her zodiac sign? What are her interests? What’s her personality like?"

Leo coldly questioned Miles Miller, throwing out these questions in rapid succession.

Miles Miller was immediately stunned, not knowing a single thing Leo asked, totally clueless.

"Oh dear, doesn’t seem like he knows."

"Could this father actually be fake?"

"Look, he’s hesitating."

"..."

Those who stopped to watch the spectacle whispered among each other.
