Chapter 238 238: Going According to Plan.
The woman refused to stop, instead gritting her teeth and speeding towards the direction of Rose city, she hoped she could quickly make it back, if she did, age would be protected by the enforcer knights from this bastard of a man.
RAWRR!!!
But alas, the heavens were nothing but a cruel bunch. The instant her feet landed on the ground, just about to take another leap. Several dozens of raging undead beasts popped out off the ground, as if they'd been lying in waiting for who knew how long.
While the woman was a master at evasion, there was possibly no way she could escape such an unexpected trap.
Before she could react, the countless undead beasts latched onto her body, tearing her limb from limb.
As for the speeding man behind her, his face quickly paled and he leaped backwards, hurriedly making his way up a tree in one fluid motion. There he stood in waiting, watching as the countless undead beasts did as they pleased with the woman's body.
Hw felt a pang in his chest watching as what he had coveted was so ruthlessly torn to shred, but nevertheless, he was glad he wasn't the one down there.
After fully devouring the woman, the countless undead stared silently at the man up the tree. The man trembled as a wave of dreed overwhelmed him, but to his suprise, they merely stared at him for a moment before scurrying off.
The man was perplexed. He stood atop the tree for a good while, only coming down after he was sure, but even then, he ran back up just as quickly.
Only when he was sure that no more undead beasts remained did he finally approach the bloody scene. Fortunately he was well trained, if he'd been any average Joe, he would've retched at the sight before him.
Strangely enough, while the woman's body was torn till nothing remained, her head seemed to be the only part left, even more strange, it was in good condition.
The man couldn't help but wonder whether the dogs had smelt some sort of poison off of it, but thinking back, he realised undead didn't fear poison, which left him even more perplexed.
He took his time pondering it before coming up with nothing and giving up, in the end his job was basically done, even if not by his own hands. He bent down to grab the woman's head, which still had a horrified look etched onto it, he then placed it below his arm and speed off, to complete his secret mission.
*******
At the Montgomery Estate.
Sebastian emerged into one of the rooms through a window, before landing and kneeling before a certain figure.
" You made sure you weren't followed?" said the figure.
" Yes young master, I did as you asked. It shouldn't be long now before the civilians discover the little suprise I left behind."
" Good Good, this is excellent, you did a splendid job Sebastian. I know understand why my father had hired you all those years ago." Said the figure who stepped into the light, the one speaking was non other than Henry who had a gleeful smile on his face, he just counted contain his excitement just now.
" Ummm.. young master." Said Sebastian with a humble look on his face.
" Oh yes, like we discussed." Henry snapped out of reverie and reached into his cloth to retrieve 2 paper parchment which he handed over to the man.
" One is the blood contract my father had used to bind your group, the other contains detailed coordinates were your rewards are located."
" Many thanks young master!" said the man, who quickly vanished from the room right after.
As for Henry, he wasn't disturbed by the mans hurried retreat. For if things continued to progress as he'd been waiting for, then it wouldn't be long before they all saw that he was far more better as a prospective ruler than that bitch of a sister of his.
*******
Just like Henry predicted, the next day, the enforcer knights at the southern gates were horrified to see an impaled head mounted at the entrance of the southern gate, the meer sight of it was without a doubt nauseating and the expression on the dismembered head was quite unnerving.
It didn't take long for word to spread as everyone wondered who this unfortunate soul was, wether it was those in the four outer district's or those withing the central district, they were all anxious to know just what could've been the reason for such a thing to occur.
Out of everyone within the city, one person in particular had the most gloomy expression right now as he sat with his family within their dinning hall.
Edwards facial features couldn't mask his emotions, anyone who saw him could tell just how livid he was.
Especially those who were seated around the table, Isabella had a worried look on her face seeing her husband in such dire straits.
Edward had personally gathered and nurtured that espionage group of his, to him there were no different than his own people, people he greatly cherished and loved, to sudden learn that they had all been done away with was something he couldn't quite accept so easily.
" I'd hate to be the giver of blames but it's obvious father that my reasoning was correct. Those McClain's never once had any intentions of resolving this peacefully." Henry saw his opportunity and didn't hesitate to take it.
" Should we continue to sit back and watch as they inflict wound after wound onto our glorious viscounty?"
" Henry, now isn't the time for this, can't you see that your father needs some time to–" Isabella spoke but stopped mid way when her husband raised a hand to stop her.
" No my dear, the boy is right." Said Edward in a low tone. " It appears that even in my old age, I've grown far to naive in matters such as this. Never did I expect the McClain's to resort to such horrendous tactics all for the sake of some godforsaken mine." Edward slammed his fist on the table, the reverberation causing the entire hall to tremble, not only the hall but the surrounding halls trembled from that blow alone. Causing the servants and help to all grow anxious, at thus moment, a slumbering beast seemed to have awakened with in the Montgomery Household.
