Blake set down his water glass and pointed toward the door. "If you want to play, come back early next month."
Hearing this, Garp deflated like a popped balloon. He had wanted to strike while the iron was hot and run through the Summit War dungeon again. Sengoku, however, breathed a sigh of relief. At least the Marines' military budget for this month was safe.
Not daring to act out further in front of Blake, the two dutifully settled their tab and turned to leave the tavern.
The moment the doors swung shut, Kaido finally gave out, collapsing onto his backside on the floor. He panted heavily, his security guard uniform thoroughly soaked in cold sweat. Staring at Blake's back, only one thought echoed in his mind: This man is the true god of this world, and perhaps of all worlds.
Blake paid no mind to the slumped Kaido. With a snap of his fingers, a virtual panel hovered in midair. The balance displayed on it had grown into an astronomical figure. Blake rubbed his chin as he scrolled through the top-tier dungeons listed.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.
Dragon Ball: Tournament of Power.
Marvel: Endgame.
The leeks in the pirate world are growing quite fast, Blake mused. It's time to create some more interesting experiences for them.
Closing the system panel, Blake turned to the man still sitting on the floor. "Kaido."
Blake's voice wasn't loud, but hearing his name caused Kaido's massive frame to spring up like a coiled spring. He scrambled to his feet. The seven-meter-tall behemoth expertly dusted himself off, even using his steel-crushing hands to smooth down his somewhat messy hair. Then, he trotted over to the bar.
Kaido's face was plastered with an ingratiating smile, which looked extremely unnatural squeezed onto his fierce, menacing features. "Shop Owner, just give the word!" His voice boomed, laced with eagerness to please. He even bent down, using the sleeve of his "007" security uniform to vigorously wipe the already spotless bar counter in front of Blake.
In the corner of the tavern, Katakuri watched silently. His donut remained suspended halfway to his mouth. Beside him, Brulee sat with a blank stare.
"Brother... is that Kaido of the Beasts?" Brulee lowered her voice, her tone filled with disbelief.
Katakuri nodded. He didn't speak, but he understood the situation perfectly. If Kaido had put on this display just a few months ago, the entire New World would have laughed their teeth out. The dignified Yonko, the strongest creature on land, sea, and air—working as a security guard in a young man's tavern, acting like an errand boy.
But now... Katakuri looked at Kaido's burly frame. His proudly honed Observation Haki sensed an incredibly terrifying life fluctuation emanating from Kaido. It wasn't a change brought about by a Devil Fruit; it was a complete evolutionary leap in biological hierarchy.
Ever since Kaido became a security guard at this tavern, his strength had been skyrocketing at a logic-defying pace. First, he returned from that "Pokémon" dungeon with the pitch-black "Gyarados" body. Later, he fused with something called a "Rayquaza" template. Now, even when Kaido was just standing there breathing, the surrounding air faintly hummed with the howl of a storm.
Katakuri even suspected that if the current Kaido fought Whitebeard again, Whitebeard might not gain the upper hand, even with that Varanium Alchemy. Outsiders might view Kaido as a dog, but in the eyes of true masters, the old boy was brilliant to the extreme. What did it matter if he was a dog? Being a dog for this unfathomable Shop Owner was a blessing countless people begged for but could never attain!
Outside the tavern doors, a figure in a pink feather coat was pressing his face against the glass, peering inside.
Donquixote Doflamingo gritted his teeth, the veins on his forehead throbbing. He tightly gripped a leather briefcase filled with the Beri he had madly amassed from the underworld recently. Last time, in the battle royale dungeon, he had been burned to a crisp by Whitebeard and tragically eliminated without snagging a single piece of good loot. Now, seeing Kaido thriving inside, Doflamingo's eyes were red with envy.
That bastard Kaido... Doflamingo thought bitterly. When he made me manufacture artificial Devil Fruits for him back then, he didn't have this kind of attitude.
Watching Kaido eagerly wipe the table, Blake finally spoke. "Stop wiping. You're coming out with me."
Kaido halted his movements, squeezing out a flattering smile on his fierce face. "The Shop Owner is going out? Where to? I'll clear the way for you!"
Blake tapped the table. "To a newly opened top-tier dungeon. You batch of leeks have been growing in strength too fast lately. I need to test the waters and see where your limits lie now."
Kaido's eyes lit up. A top-tier dungeon! He had merely visited the Pokémon world and secured the Rayquaza template. If he followed the Shop Owner into an even higher-tier dungeon, the rewards would be unimaginable!
Kaido patted his chest, guaranteeing, "Rest assured, Shop Owner! I will definitely hold the line for you! If anyone dares to provoke you, I'll smash their head in with a single swing!"
The tavern door was suddenly pushed open. Donquixote Doflamingo strode in, his pink feather coat swishing. The former Warlord of the Sea and King of Dressrosa, with a bounty of 340 million Beri, wore a look of undisguised fanaticism.
He slammed the heavy leather briefcase onto the bar. It popped open, revealing stacks of the largest denomination 10,000 Beri notes. "Shop Owner! Bring me along!" Doflamingo grinned, flashing his trademark arrogant smile, though his tone was subservient. "I had bad luck in the battle royale last time. I swear I won't drag you down this time."
Kaido eyed him sideways. "Doflamingo, who do you think you are? Do you really think you're worthy of running a dungeon with the Shop Owner?"
Veins bulged on Doflamingo's forehead, but he forcibly held his temper. He knew this wasn't the time to fall out with Kaido. "Kaido, you're nothing but a watchdog. The Shop Owner needs people who can get things done. My brain is sharper than yours, and I can handle odd jobs for the Shop Owner."
Blake found the scene quite amusing. He was just short of a few punching bags to test the intensity of the top-tier dungeon. A resilient and cunning guy like Doflamingo was the perfect test subject. "Alright, you're in."
With a casual wave of Blake's hand, the briefcase on the bar vanished.
Doflamingo was overjoyed.
Right then, a tall figure stepped out from the shadows in the corner of the tavern. It was Marine Admiral Akainu, Sakazuki, wearing a dark red suit with a rose pinned to his lapel. No one knew how long he had been sitting there.
"Shop Owner, take me as well," Akainu said.
Kaido scoffed. "Sakazuki, did that old coot Garp beat your brains out? This is a high-level scouting run for the Shop Owner. What is a Marine Admiral tagging along for? Are you going to arrest us?"
Doflamingo chimed in from the side, adding fuel to the fire with his sarcastic tone. "Fufufufu, what a marvel. Are you Marines really this idle nowadays?"
Akainu didn't even spare them a glance. He kept his eyes locked on Blake, his tone as flat and unwavering as still water. "When the Shop Owner travels, someone must handle logistics. With my Mag-Mag Fruit, I can guarantee perfect heat control for grilling meat."
