Chapter 473 - 257: Found Your Weakness! (Part 3)

This couldn’t help but make him recall that even when Quasi-General Gregory and Meredith had joined forces in the Battle of Dorne City, they still failed to pin down this Light and Shadow Envoy before him.

Meanwhile, as Siegfried swept his gaze around the banquet hall, his expression didn’t change, but on closer look there was a flash of surprise flickering through his eyes!

Even counting the time after Lilith came to warn him, in total it had been less than thirty seconds.

Yejiya and his dragon had both been taken out??

But almost every Transcendent had absolute confidence in their own combat power, not to mention that the Array on the third floor was currently charging the Necromancy Crystal.

From any angle, Siegfried had no reason to withdraw without a fight.

Their gazes collided.

For an instant it felt like even the air was sparking!

Siegfried lifted his Staff, and a clump of black mist shot out at high speed; in less than the blink of an eye, another black Energy-formed long rope fired straight toward Raine.

Raine’s pupils shrank abruptly; this was the first time he had encountered someone who could chain Magic that fast.

Without hesitation he raised his Shield to block, charging straight at Siegfried at full speed.

And in that same instant, the black mist touched the Shield, but then, like rain sinking into soil, it produced no effect at all.

Raine felt as if a not-very-strong gust of wind had just blown across his body.

The next moment he was back to normal.

The black Energy rope behaved the same.

Upon contacting the Shield, the black light-rope writhed like a serpent, trying to coil around Raine, but in the next second it was as if it had met something it could not bind, and it simply dissipated in midair.

"Magic Resistance?"

Siegfried’s eyelids twitched twice.

The shock in his heart exceeded even what he’d felt on seeing Yejiya’s death just now.

Though the two spells he’d just cast weren’t of particularly high Level, only Third Level, both Withering Skill and Binding Skill, once strengthened by the Realm of Light and Shadow, should not have been outright resisted.

How high was the other side’s resistance?

It might rival that of a Demon from the Bottomless Abyss!

There was no time to think; faced with Raine’s rapid approach, Siegfried was forced to cast a Flash Step.

For any Caster, a spell that could instantly relocate oneself was extremely precious.

Because in a short window of time, one could generally only cast a single spatial spell.

Of course, as a Mage’s strength rose, this limitation grew weaker.

For example, the Kreit Brothers of the Kreit Fire Spell Squad, two Fire Mages at Level 9 Classes, after casting Flash Step—a short-range teleport—needed around thirty seconds before they could cast it again.

For Mages below Level 5 Classes, that cooldown was usually over one minute.

Naturally, for Casters at the Extraordinary Level, this restriction was much lighter, but they still typically needed around fifteen seconds.

When Raine saw Siegfried vanish from his original position in an instant, he immediately extended his Perception to track the opponent’s movement.

But eerily, he couldn’t find any trace of him within the entire banquet hall.

Suddenly!

Alarms screamed in Raine’s mind; he snapped his head up to see Siegfried appear above the shattered banquet hall roof, right at the edge of the gap in the third-floor castle floor.

As Siegfried pointed his Staff at Raine, a clump of black mist hurtled downwards!

Right after, blue arcs of electricity flickered at the tip of Siegfried’s Magic Staff, making Raine’s brows twitch as he realized something.

Raine swiftly raised his Shield to block while quietly switching the "Blue Dragon Mage Lord bloodline" for the "Wild Boarman Lord bloodline."

For the battle-hardened Siegfried, having two consecutive Erosion Magic spells resisted was enough for him to immediately suspect that Raine was wearing one or more pieces of resistance gear specifically against Erosion Magic.

Of course, other possibilities existed, such as divine favor or blessings.

But that wasn’t important; what mattered was finding the enemy’s weakness.

Even if the opponent’s resistance to Erosion Magic was sky-high, it was impossible for him to have equally high resistance against every school of Magic.

If he really did, Siegfried would turn around and leave!

Thus, Siegfried kept probing with Third Level Erosion Magic—Withering Skill—while at the same time casting Lightning Spells, his second specialization after Erosion Magic.

As he watched the black mist collide with Raine’s Shield and again vanish without a trace...

Siegfried’s eyelids twitched faintly.

Because he knew this basically meant that in the coming battle he’d be forced to abandon his strongest Erosion Magic.

But this twist didn’t affect his composure; his expression stayed focused as he turned his gaze to the Lightning Arrow streaking toward Raine.

The arrow-shaped bolt, woven from over a dozen leaping arcs of electricity, slammed toward Raine almost instantly.

And in that same instant, Siegfried keenly caught the fleeting white icy mirror surface flashing across Raine’s Shield.

"Found your weak point!" Siegfried’s lips curled into a smile.

Because only when you can’t tank it head-on do you need to defend like that.
