Chapter 400 - 90: Is That Even Human!?
Chapter 400 - 90: Is That Even Human!?
Under the explosive AOE barrage from Qin Feng, combined with the precision strikes of Sielo’s Emperor’s Guard, the group of Sakura Country players who had foolishly attempted a covert Beheading Operation was quickly wiped out to the last man.
The battlefield was littered with corpses, and blood soaked the rotting leaves of the forest. The once-arrogant strike team had been utterly annihilated.
Their souls did not dissipate. Instead, they were forcibly pulled toward the Plane Gates that served as their respective anchor points.
According to the rules of the Lord World, these players would have to wait for a 12-hour cooldown before they could resurrect.
After resurrecting, they would face three completely different choices.
First, they could withdraw from the Lord World and return to reality, completely avoiding the dangers of the upcoming Plane War.
Second, they could teleport a new batch of trained Divine Chosen Soldiers and Native Soldiers through the Plane Gate, regrouping to continue their fierce assault on the Holy Empire founded by Qin Feng.
Third, they could choose to hide their movements and secretly hunt down lone Divine Chosen Soldiers and Native Creatures of the Holy Empire, earning meager Plane War points while struggling to survive and wait for a chance to turn the tables.
Of course.
That so-called comeback was nothing more than wishful thinking on their part.
After all, the force Qin Feng had deployed this time was just a small elite squad used for farming Bloodthirsty Layers. It wasn’t even a fraction of his main army, yet it had already sent these foreign players, the vanguard, crying.
Meanwhile, the Holy Empire’s true main army was still stationed at the border cities, on high alert, without a single soldier having been sent into battle.
If Qin Feng were to truly mobilize the Holy Empire’s main army for a full-scale assault, using his forces to block every Plane Gate and set an inescapable trap, the foreign players would likely be wiped out the moment they logged into this Lord World, before they even had a chance to get familiar with their surroundings.
If that happened, this massive "8 vs. 1 Plane War" wouldn’t even get off the ground. It would end in an absolute victory for the Holy Empire in no more than three days.
Qin Feng sighed softly, tapping his fingers on a tree trunk. His tone carried a hint of casual consideration.
’Heh.’
’To farm some more Bloodthirsty Layers, and to let the other Lord Players in my zone earn some war points, I probably shouldn’t just annihilate them completely.’
’I’ll just let the Holy Empire’s main army hold the key cities and stabilize the defensive lines. I’ll send the Bloodthirsty Squad out to farm the wilds, build up Bloodthirsty Layers for a few weeks, and buff the Blood Volume of my Exclusive Mount and the Emperor’s Guard.’
’Once I’ve wiped out the main forces of these foreign players and there’s nothing left to gain from them, I’ll send in my real army to finish the job and mop up their remaining forces.’
’Then, it’s either wait for the next batch of foreign players to invade, or we take the initiative and go on the offensive, attacking their Lord Worlds...’
As he was thinking, the Eye of All-Seeing, an artifact Qin Feng had borrowed from other players, activated again, reporting the real-time movements of the foreign players who hadn’t been ambushed by the Bloodthirsty Squad.
Some of them had already reached the fortress city on the Holy Empire’s new border, the one closest to the Plane Gate.
They were even preparing to launch an attack on it.
’Retreat?’
’Hand over the fortress?’
’Let these foreign enemies stick around so the Bloodthirsty Squad can slowly farm Bloodthirsty Layers?’
Not a chance.
Qin Feng’s bottom line was very clear.
He had to dispatch the Holy Empire’s army to defend all the newly built border fortresses to the death. He would not allow a single enemy to set foot in the Empire’s territory, much less harm its people.
There were plenty of other ways to increase his Bloodthirsty Layers; there was absolutely no need to sacrifice his people’s lives and shake his allies’ confidence just for a temporary boost in power.
’Let’s see... This border fortress is surrounded by the largest number of enemies. Farming Bloodthirsty Layers here will be incredibly satisfying!’
’Then I’ll teleport there to provide support!’
At that thought, a dazzling golden rune suddenly lit up in Qin Feng’s palm as his Gate of War Talent activated.
An immense gate of light suddenly unfolded in the forest, and a fierce wind carrying the clang of armor swept out from it. Qin Feng stepped through first, followed closely by the Winged Dragon Beast named Gale and a hundred soldiers from Sielo’s Emperor’s Guard. Their figures vanished into the light in an instant.
The next second, a flash of light appeared atop the border fortress’s wall, and the group stood there, steady on their feet.
Qin Feng brushed the residual dust of the teleportation from his robes and walked straight to the battlements, the hem of his clothes whipping in the wind atop the wall.
He gazed into the distance. On the open fields beyond the border fortress, a teeming mass of foreign players was frantically digging trenches and setting up stockades. The basic frameworks of Siege Hammers and catapults were gradually taking shape among the crowd. A forest of banners swayed, and the oppressive black tide of people stretched to the horizon, the sheer number of them causing the ground to tremble faintly.
A steady figure strode forward beside him, his clashing armor radiating a heroic aura. The Epic Hero, one of the former Five Dragon Generals of the Gulad Empire, dropped to one knee. He pressed his right hand heavily against his breastplate in a salute, the metal gauntlet making a crisp sound as it struck the armor. His voice was filled with awe and reverence.
"Your Majesty Tingfeng!"
"You’ve arrived at the perfect time!"
Maintaining his salute, he looked up and reported in a deep voice:
"Following your previous order to ’hold our ground and not advance recklessly,’ we have not dared to leave the city to pursue the enemy. All our forces have been deployed on the walls and in the arrow towers."
"The enemy has tried to send elite units to approach several times, but we have repelled them with Magic and Arrow Rain. To this day, we have not let these invaders get anywhere near the city walls!"
Qin Feng nodded slightly, his voice calm and firm.
"Very good."
"Continue to hold this position and stick to the original defensive plan."
His gaze swept over the enemy army below.
"As long as no other enemies attack this fortress, you don’t need to engage them... As for the ones before you, I alone am enough to deal with them."
As he finished speaking, Qin Feng leaped, his upright figure tracing a clean arc through the air as he dropped from the towering city wall directly to the ground below.
The moment his feet touched the ground, he swiftly summoned the Moonfire Bow. The bow’s body glowed with a faint, silvery-red light. Drawing the string and aiming at the enemy camp, he strode purposefully toward the oppressive dark mass of the enemy.
Soon, the foreign players busy constructing their siege camp spotted the figure below the wall. One of them looked up and cried out in alarm.
"What the fuck!?"
"Is that Tingfeng!?"
A player next to him squinted for a closer look, his voice full of disbelief.
"Yeah! That’s right! It’s him! I can see the name above his head!"
Another person pointed at Qin Feng, his voice filled with confusion.
"Huh? He came out of the city alone? And he’s walking toward our camp? What’s that supposed to mean?"
"Could it be... he’s here to negotiate a truce?"
Hearing this, the players exchanged confused glances. Their bustling work came to a halt, replaced by confusion and wariness.
But this confusion didn’t last long before it was shattered by a sharp cry.
"Wait!"
"Something’s not right!"
The player who had shouted was staring intently at Qin Feng’s movements, his face suddenly paling.
"He’s drawing his bow!"
"And it looks like he’s aiming at us!"
The people around him instantly reacted. Following his pointed finger, they saw that Qin Feng had already drawn the Moonfire Bow into a full draw. The arrowhead glinted with a cold light, aimed directly at their camp.
"What!?"
"He’s planning to attack us directly!?"
"Is this guy insane? He dares to attack us all by himself? He didn’t bring a single one of those Divine Chosen Soldiers from the wall?"
However, before the foreign players could recover from their shock, Qin Feng had steadily stepped into his effective range.
He put a sudden burst of strength into his arms, drawing the Moonfire Bow to its limit. The light gathering at the arrowhead flared violently.
The next second, the arrow shot forth. In mid-air, it instantly split and multiplied, transforming into tens of thousands of sharp arrows. Like a torrential downpour that blotted out the sky, they plunged into the foreign players’ camp with a piercing whistle.
"Holy fuck!?"
"What kind of broken archery skill is that!?"
"Divine Gift: Split Arrow!?"
"Wait!!!"
"HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!"
"His one arrow actually hit my Divine Chosen Soldier for over two hundred thousand health!!!"
"Is that even fucking human!?"
