Chapter 399 - 399
Chapter 399 - 399
Even Leol retreated behind Welfin, not daring to step forward. He had a premonition that if he tried to intercept, he would die. Moreover...
"This is definitely not a place to linger!!" His cat-like eyes glanced at Ging, who was biting into an apple, and a sudden sense of foreboding surged within him. For some reason, this seemingly shabby, harmless human exuded an overwhelming sense of danger!!
This ant, who claimed to have the blood of the King of Beasts, the lion, and harbored great ambition, often disobeyed orders and hunted humans at will when the Ant Queen was still alive. However, deep down, he was the type to bully the weak and fear the strong. He would typically slaughter humans but, upon first encountering Kite and realizing his superior strength, backed down out of fear.
After the Chimera Ant Queen's death, he ventured out to carve out his own territory and proclaimed himself king. He even appeared on television for an interview but, due to his reckless nature, ended up eating the female reporter live on air. The consequences were severe, as V5 and the Hunter Association dispatched numerous professional hunters to dismantle his kingdom.
During the pursuit, he had no choice but to seek refuge with the Ant King in the Republic of East Gorteau, where he received Shaiapouf's blessing and awakened his Nen abilities.
They were curious about what was happening inside the royal chamber and some bold, brainless ants even considered going to see for themselves. But as soon as they tried to move, their bodies froze. A powerful, terrifying aura emanated from the Ant Queen's chamber, exerting immense pressure on them. It felt as if the aura's master could crush them into meat paste with a mere thought.
Instantly, all the ants were paralyzed with fear, curling up and no longer daring to act rashly.
"At least this saves us the trouble of chasing them down," a leisurely chuckle echoed, sending chills down their spines. By the time Netero arrived with his team, they could capture them all in one fell swoop.
"That kind of aura..." The squadron leaders encircled by Ging also sensed Morin's aura, and their bodies stiffened. Cold sweat dripped from their foreheads.
"Were we just facing such a terrifying enemy?!"
"Not a bad deterrent," Ging mused, wiping apple juice from his face with a mischievous smile. "This isn't bad at all."
With that, a terrifying aura and oppressive Nen emanated from Ging, seemingly challenging Morin's pressure. Such a childish act could only be carried out by him.
The squadron leaders facing Ging were speechless.
Among the ants, Bloster the shrimp and Bihorn the bison exchanged a glance, both seeing relief and lingering fear in each other's eyes. Thankfully, we've regained our past memories and personalities...
"No! I haven't realized my ambition yet, I haven't established my kingdom, I can't just...!" Leol struggled, his eyes bloodshot, his heart roaring with unwillingness. But at this moment, he was like a small boat in a storm before these two powerful auras, on the verge of capsizing, entirely at the mercy of the waves. His life and death hanging by a thread of human whim, an utmost humiliation for one who proclaimed himself king.
Meanwhile, in Knov's four-dimensional apartment, Netero had changed into a new outfit: a vibrant blue and white tracksuit. The T-shirt bore a large pink Chinese character for "heart" at the center of the chest.
"A heart T-shirt? That's the battle attire the chairman wears only when he's serious? I thought it was just a legend," Knov and Morel's expressions were heavy.
"This might be my last time wearing this shirt," Netero remained optimistic, shaving his hair and trimming his hooked beard, potential hindrances in battle.
"Or perhaps, this might be my last time shaving," he mused, recalling past memories as he watched his beard fall to the ground, revealing a slightly dazzling set of white teeth.
"Alright, let's head out. The rescue team is on the way. If all goes well, we'll meet the backup team members at the NGL entrance. Knov, you'll need to use your ability to bring in the medical equipment."
"Understood!"
Inside the Ant Queen's chamber, Morin, accompanied by Colt, arrived at the place where the Ant Queen lay. They saw the elderly fish-shaped ant sweating profusely, doing his utmost to treat and stop the bleeding of the Ant Queen. Despite her life force being weak and blood covering the ground, death was not an easy feat for her.
The Ant Queen's resilience was formidable, enough to hold on until the rescue team arrived in the original version. Even when she was severely wounded under V5's directive, dragging her crippled body to the Sixth Continent, she managed to survive. Back then, she had even lost a leg, yet she could still recover quickly by consuming marine fish.
---
Later, it was discovered that humans had high nutritional value, so they became the primary food source for the Ant Queen. Currently, the Ant Queen's limbs are intact, and with her regenerative ability to heal even severed limbs, she can hold on until the rescue team arrives. Of course, that's the extent of it. Now, her internal organs are damaged, which is entirely different from external injuries. No matter the treatment, her fate cannot be changed.
However, this is based on the medical standards of this world. For Morin, such injuries are relatively easy to heal.
"My lord, look..." Although Colt was slightly worried about the Ant Queen's condition, he had done all he could. If even Morin couldn't do anything, then perhaps the Ant Queen was simply destined for this fate.
"Healing her is no problem at all." With just a glance, Morin had already thought of several solutions.
"Really?!" Colt exhaled a sigh of relief. "That's great."
"Don't relax just yet. Healing her is possible, but there's a price to pay," Morin continued. "After all, she's consumed so many humans. It's already generous not to eliminate her, let alone pull her back from the brink of death."
"I'm not so magnanimous as to abandon my basic human principles for an ant."
Colt was slightly taken aback by these words. "So, what do you mean?"
"I'll save her life, but..." Morin looked into his eyes, speaking calmly, "Since her life is saved by me, from now on, she answers to me."
"Whatever I arrange for her, she must follow. Whatever I tell her to do, she must do. If she disobeys..." Morin's tone was indifferent, "then she can't blame me for being unkind."
"This..." Feeling Morin's gaze and hearing his calm tone, Colt's lips moved, then he nodded. After all, as long as the Ant Queen was saved, he felt he had repaid his debt to her.
As for the Ant Queen's future? Every person, no, every ant, must take responsibility for the path they choose and bear the consequences, right?
"Lord Colt!!" Seeing Morin and Colt approach, the elderly fish-shaped ant finally looked up, wiping the sweat from his brow and quickly saluting. He couldn't help but take a few extra glances at Morin.
A living human entering the Ant Queen's chamber was indeed a rare sight.
"Thank you for your hard work," Colt nodded to the elderly ant and stepped aside, giving Morin space.
"Her abdomen is ruptured, the organs severely damaged, like a torn doll," Morin observed briefly, then took out the [Restoration Ray Lamp] from his treasure pouch.
In the Ant Queen's case, even the [Doctor's Kit] would struggle to pull her back from the brink of death. Only the [Restoration Ray Lamp], a powerful tool that restores everything to its original state, could save her life.
"Ah?" The soft pink-purple light shone gently on the Ant Queen, and visibly, her injuries began to heal rapidly.
"What is this?!" The elderly fish-shaped ant's eyes widened in shock. He felt as though his medical knowledge and worldview were being challenged.
"Are humans such miraculous beings?!" This thought echoed in his mind.
"This way, the Ant Queen's life is saved," Colt observed, now free of any doubts. He felt even more gratitude and reverence towards Morin. To be able to heal such injuries, just how mysterious and powerful was he?
Quickly, as their thoughts churned, the Ant Queen's injuries had improved by half. At the very least, her damaged organs and abdomen had been restored to their original state. It was at this moment that the pink-purple restoration ray suddenly ceased.
"Huh?!" Colt and the elderly fish-shaped ant were once again taken aback.
"Lord Morin?" Colt looked at Morin, puzzled.
"I promised to save her life, and I've done that," Morin casually put away the [Restoration Ray Lamp]. "Now, the Ant Queen is no longer in danger of dying."
To save her life, Morin felt was more than enough. Expecting her to be fully resurrected to her original state? She must be dreaming.
Not without addressing her...
