Chapter 710 New Mission
Moreover, the gains from these years were not limited to the Reflection Dimension creatures. There were also over ten thousand Divine Armaments scattered across various parts of the plane, as well as the ancient civilization tombstone discovered not long ago inside the white dwarf at the plane’s core.
Inside it was a complete record of that extinct civilization’s history, technology, war systems, and all their researchresults on combating Reflection Dimension creatures. Added to that was the entire knowledge base of the Tentacle Tree Civilization, along with the Tentacle Tree plane itself.
The total harvest from this plane war was nothing short of astonishing.
Thinking of this, Jie Ming even felt somewhat glad that he had called for reinforcements at the first opportunity fifty years ago.
Otherwise, even if just a single Reflection Dimension creature had been missed, his plane would have been finished.
“What’s next?”
Jie Ming asked.
“Continue searching?”
Avery Knight and the other several seventh-ring wizards exchanged glances. “Correct. We plan to conduct a fourth round of searches.”
Avery Knight answered straightforwardly.
“Although in theory there should be no more omissions, when it comes to anything related to the Reflection Dimension… it’s better to search one extra time than to miss even one.” Jie Ming nodded, then his brows suddenly furrowed slightly.
Viola noticed it keenly.
“What’s wrong?” She tilted her head and looked at him.
Jie Ming was silent for a moment before sighing. “My mandatory war conscription period is almost up. I probably won’t be able to stay with you all after this.” Speaking of this, Jie Ming couldn’t help complaining, “I clearly fought an entire plane war from invasion to occupation, even incorporating the civilization. Yet not long ago the Star Ring Federation’s military informed me that it doesn’t count?”
The air fell quiet for an instant.
The next moment, Avery burst out laughing.
And the more he laughed, the louder it became. His resonant laughter echoed back and forth between the laboratory’s metal walls, even causing the sealed orbs on the workbenches to shake gently.
Viola shook her head helplessly. “Counterattack wars naturally don’t count. That’s written in black and white in the Federation military’s regulations.”
“Supplementary Article Three, Clause Seven: Passive defensive operations are not counted toward mandatory conscription missions. Even if you completely destroy the opposing civilization, as long as the war began with them attacking you, it doesn’t fulfill the quota. So you should just obediently go participate in the mandatory conscription.”
Jie Ming: “……”
He suddenly understood why so many wizards hated the Federation military.
Avery, however, still couldn’t stop laughing. “But if we really counted counterattack wars, we wouldn’t be standing here helping you today. According to the rules, during the mandatory rest period after completing a mission, high-rank wizards are not allowed to participate in any new high-risk operations.”
“As for the few of us…” The old man pointed at the seventh-ring wizards around them, “We are all currently in the mandatory rest period.”
“If you had really counted that previous war, the first one to suffer would have been yourself.”
“Because you would have had to immediately send all of us back, then face the remaining Reflection Dimension creatures alone.”
Jie Ming fell silent.
Several seconds later, he exhaled in resignation.
The Federation military had designed the regulations with such precision that they had clearly blocked every possible loophole long ago.
But at this moment, Avery suddenly changed the subject.
“Actually…”
“If you really find the conscription mission troublesome, I happen to have a pretty good alternative here.”
Jie Ming looked up.
Avery Knight looked him up and down, his gaze pausing for a moment on the golden vertical eye at the center of Jie Ming’s forehead.
“Under normal circumstances, this kind of mission would require at least a sixth-ring wizard to accept.”
“However, you have already had direct contact with Reflection Dimension creatures and have even withstood dimensional channel attacks head-on. Assigning it to you shouldn’t be a problem.” Viola beside them immediately grew interested. “Related to the Reflection Dimension?”
“More or less.”
Avery Knight nodded, his tone gradually becoming serious.
“A friend of mine sent me a message some time ago. One of the planes under his command has recently run into some trouble.”
“It has now been confirmed that an affiliated race in that plane has somehow mastered technology to connect to the Reflection Dimension.”
The air in the laboratory grew noticeably quieter.
“Although the scale of the opened channels is not large and far from reaching the level of large-scale dimensional erasure like here, the localized destructive power leveraging the dimensional differential at the moment of channel opening is still extremely strong.”
“Those who have mastered the technology have already formed a resistance army and are currently causing destruction everywhere in that plane.”
At this point, his dark brown eyes looked straight at Jie Ming. “And you happen to be one of the few who can withstand dimensional channel attacks head-on. So this mission is very suitable for you.”
Jie Ming fell into thoughtful silence upon hearing this.
Avery Knight continued, “More importantly, those resistance forces possess genuine technology related to the Reflection Dimension. Haven’t you always wanted to study Reflection Dimension creatures? Those technical materials should be quite valuable to you.”
“And anything you seize will all belong to you.”
The moment those last words fell, the light in Jie Ming’s eyes completely brightened.
“I’ll go.” Jie Ming answered with almost no hesitation.
Viola beside him immediately showed a trace of envy.
She genuinely wanted to go as well.
Unfortunately, she knew herself clearly. She could kill them, but she couldn’t withstand them.
The Pain Law was extremely lethal against Reflection Dimension creatures, but she lacked Jie Ming’s freakish survivability to endure dimensional channel attacks head-on.
If she went on this mission, she would instead be in danger.
Thinking of this, she lowered her head and glanced at the sealed orb in her arms.
Never mind.
A complete Reflection Dimension sample was enough for her to study for several thousand years.
Avery Knight nodded in satisfaction.
He actually wasn’t worried that his friend would refuse.
Because missions related to the Reflection Dimension had always been among the hardest to find takers for in seventh-ring wizard circles.
It wasn’t that no one wanted to accept them, but that there were simply too few qualified people.
Wizards capable of perceiving dimensions were rare, but not impossible to find.
However… wizards who could withstand dimensional channel attacks head-on were truly treasures prized by every faction.
And the real trouble with those resistance forces was merely the dimensional technology in their hands.
As long as someone could endure the attacks unleashed when the dimensional channels opened, the remaining problems would not be difficult to solve.
With that thought, Avery Knight turned directly toward the magic network terminal in the corner and began contacting his friend.
Jie Ming, after saying goodbye to the others, stepped onto the teleportation array leading back to the Infernal Sulfur plane, preparing to first arrange matters for his own forces over the next few decades.
Inside the laboratory, the cool pale blue light shone steadily.
On the workbench still sat the spot where that living activation test tube had once been placed.
That little thing now permanently hung on the Black Giant Priest’s shoulder and would occasionally run back to “inspect” the laboratory, pointing at the new equipment.
Jie Ming sat down before the experiment console, activated the controls, and a large volume of rune light streams slowly unfolded.
Jie Ming began to dictate new plans:
“The defensive system of the Infernal Sulfur plane needs a comprehensive upgrade.”
“Focus on adding isolation structures targeted at the Reflection Dimension.”
“Reverse research on the Divine Armaments will definitely involve dimensional channel simulation experiments, so an independent sealed zone must be established in advance.”
“Molten Mountain… the newly advanced seventh-rings on your side have completed core stability testing and can now be formally incorporated into the combat sequence.”
“Additionally…”
Jie Ming’s eyes flickered slightly.
“Transfer all experts from the Tentacle Tree Civilization in the high-energy physics field into the Divine Armament research group.”
“I want to master these technologies as quickly as possible.”
