Chapter 683: Gossip-1

After the Christmas tree was set up, Samuel left them to grab some food. Lately due to influx of new guests, there was a surplus of ingredients. The kitchen staff decided to go all out as most of it were luxurious ingredients which would lose their luster if they were left aside.

With Kiko's visit, the family didn't know if she would stay longer. In anticipation they procured several exotic items to match the Japanese cuisine which started collecting dust because she hardly stayed for a day.

They decided to splurge with Kayla's arrival as an excuse to hold a minor party for everyone. It was quite a spread of dishes which he happily enjoyed. There was something about the Rothschild family cooks who could present all the classic dishes from around the globe.

He mingled with the crowd and played around for an hour or two before returning home. He didn't informed anyone except Arthur because they seemed to be having a good time. Seeing that he had few hours in hand, he decided to head out again.

He wanted to check up on Kate and Bella. They didn't contact him since they returned from the party and he was worried she would spiral out of control again. He also wanted to invite them to the party and introduce them to everyone.

Since Kate didn't have any family member, he thought she shouldn't spend the holidays alone. He didn't know about Bella but he would invite her too. After dressing up, he got inside the car and started driving.

Upon reaching her home, he was surprised to see that no one answered. As far as he recalled, the tenants had already left to enjoy their vacation but Kate should be here after all she was on leave.

He called her cell but no one picked up. He thought for a second and dialed Bella who too didn't pick up. For a second he thought that Brett could have gotten to them? He shook his head and pulled out a card that he acquired of her bar.

This time someone did answer, he pretended to be a customer and inquired about reserving the place. He forgot that there was no such feature as it wasn't a fancy restaurant still he found out that the boss was in house and he could talk to her if he wanted.

He told her that he was on the way and hung up the phone. He thought she would be mulling over in her room but Kate went back to work? Maybe because she didn't want to think about it and it was a good way to engross herself in work.

He really wanted to give her closure by dragging that bastard to her feet but these things take time. He decided to visit her at work beside he started getting suspicious gazes from the neighbours since he had been standing outside her door for few minutes now.

He thought they would think he was some burglar or something but strangely they greeted him warmly and even gave him weird smiles. He didn't know what was going on but he returned the greeting before rushing back to his car to drive toward her establishment.

" What's up? You are not at home?" she asked.

" That...we are still at the campus. I am afraid we have to change our plans." Maia said with a disappointed expression.

" Why? What happened?" Iblis shoved Adele aside coming closer to the screen.

" We thought about it and felt like it would be weird. Beside, we heard that you guys are already having fun without us." Paige said. She seemed angry for some reason.

" Why didn't you text us then? You can still make it if you leave now."

Paige and Maia exchanged glances before Maia continued," It's regarding Liliana and Rosaline. We felt it's best we stay here. No matter what happened between us, after spending more time with them I really came to like them."

" I don't know how they would take it if we fly over there to meet that bastard after what he did. He left without even saying anything and hadn't even contact any of us. He should at least come here and firmly apologize."

" We will stay here since they might take it as a betrayal for our friendship."

" When did you guys get this close? Last time I saw you were condemning them for being after Samuel's money." Iblis chuckled. They might be friends but before that she considered them as rivals! She was a little happy to learn that she didn't have to deal with their sorry ass even when it would derail their surprise plan.

" You bitch! If not for my parents I would have come and kick your ass! If you weren't living there-" Paige was about to lash out seeing that obnoxious smirk on her face.

" Alright, stop it. We don't have time to argue. Tell me, is it that serious?" Adele interfered to ask the important question. They went quiet for a second before sighing.

" I heard Isabella, Liliana's sister isn't doing so good. We tried to talk to her but she had buried herself in work and refused to even speak his name."

" There is also the issue that she didn't seem to be that experienced in dating. Since her family had always been opposed to her getting into medical field because it's a grueling job, coupled with the nature of their work. It's been hard for her."

They began to tell what they witnessed over the past few months. The main concern was that, in her mind she felt like she was the reason for the wedge between her little sister and Samuel. Liliana didn't had a good life and when she was finally starting to open up, the incident happened which made them fall out again.

Liliana never blamed her big sister but no matter how she or their parents tried, Isabella refrained to discuss it. It was becoming quite an issue and no one knew how to resolve it.
