Chapter 614: Kate's Past-3

" I woke up three days later staring at the hospital ceiling. At that time, I was still very much out of it to fathom what happened to me but I knew that it was not right because my whole body was hurting like hell."

She had bruises all over her body, few cracked ribs, a major head concussion, sprained leg and a fractured arm. Even her face seemed to have received large amount of damage after getting roughed up.

Kate remembered the first thing that she did was cry, not because of pain but to think about the severity of the situation. Hearing her sobb, the nurses called the only person that was waiting for her outside the ward, Bella.

She came in and tried to console her friend as much as she could but it didn't work as planned. Kate was getting out of hand so doctors had to sedate her again hoping she would be more responsive the second time.

Kate began ugly crying recounting her horror to Samuel. Her suppressed emotions began to surface again, it was her first time sharing the incident in such details but Samuel didn't know that. He was also stumped how to calm her down.

He could only wipe off her tears gently while rubbing her back. Her whole face was red as she looked up at him with her vulnerable eyes that almost broke his heart. He placed both his hands on her plump cheeks trying to stop stream of tears.

After few minutes she was calm enough to start recounting the events again.

When she awoke for the second time, she saw Bella leaning on the side of bed. The room was dimly lit with golden hue probably because the sun was going down. Kate adjusted on her bed trying to put off some pressure from her sore back when Bella woke up too.

Bella outright told her that she didn't know what had happened within those two hours that she took to get there but when they fought through the front door and eventually reached Kate, it looked quite bleak.

While her friends attacked the man, Bella immediately came to Kate's side looking horrified at half naked body. The young man was clearly in the process of doing something heinous but when she saw that he was still half naked while covered in bruises himself she knew her friend true to her name definitely must had fought back against him.

Her body was covered with bruises and she even had a black eye that looked hideous but at least her undergarments were intact. She was completely unconscious only blabbering nonsense every now and then but if Bella was even an hour late, she knew how worse things would have gotten.

Kate was shocked at first to know that she had retained her innocence. She didn't remember anything but looking at the damage her body sustained, it was not hard for her to think about the worst situation.

She started crying thinking about it again which made Bella console her by hugging her again. Bella knew how much Kate went through in her life, although it was somewhat her fault for not listening to her but she didn't hold it against her.

Kate was quite young and inexperienced when it came to boys. With how much that monster was going out of his way for her it was understandable for Kate to be swept off her feet. It was her bad luck that her first shot at love turned out to be a nightmare.

While she was telling Samuel the details he was more curious about the man, whether he got justice or not. He thought getting caught red handed assaulting a girl would result in some justice but by her tone it didn't seem that the story had a happy ending.

With thanks to Bella and her friends effort, Kate was able to recover but the inner scars never healed for her. She became more reclusive and hardly talked with anyone especially not to strangers. But what happened next made Samuel angry again.
